IV International Conference “Remote Sensing - the Synergy of High Technologies” will be held on April 14 – 16, 2010 in the vicinity of Moscow

IV International Conference “Remote Sensing - the Synergy of High Technologies” will be held on April 14 – 16, 2010 in premium hotel complex ATLAS PARK-HOTEL located in one of the most picturesque places of the Moscow region, 15 minutes ride from Domodedovo airport (30 km away from the Moscow Ring Road).

International Conference “Remote Sensing – the Synergy of High Technologies” annually organized by Sovzond became a traditional meeting place for leading experts from Russian and foreign companies operating in the field of geoinformational technologies, Earth remote sensing (ERS), mapping, cadastre, navigation, urban development and land-use planning. Due to its magnitude, clear and thought-out organization the conference is positioned among the most important events in the branch.

In recent years the main development trends of ERS technologies have been clearly identified. Spatial resolution of space imagery substantially increased, survey performance was enhanced, brand new space vehicles and satellite constellations intended to meet special objectives are operating on the orbit. New-generation super-high spatial resolution satellites such as WorldView-1,2 and GeoEye-1, unique multi-purpose space vehicles, for example ALOS, were launched. RapidEye satellite constellation owing to its manoeuvrability, high spatial resolution, vast survey areas and daily survey capability is a promising option for monitoring. As a commercial super-high resolution constellation of radar space vehicles (TerraSAR-X, COSMO-SkyMed, RADARSAT-2) are actively deployed, it becomes feasible to acquire online data on vast areas regardless of weather conditions.

It is noteworthy that the growing volume of satellite ERS data archives and growing number of users gave rise to development of brand new services. One of them is ImageConnect which provides multi-user access to DigitalGlobe high-resolution space imagery archives.

Important tools intended to most effectively represent spatial data are geoportals where online ERS data are widely used. On the one hand geoportals are intended to solve branch-wise and administration management issues, and on the other hand they provide online multi-user access to respective data.

Appearance of brand new information on terrain conditions while using ERS and GIS data, capability of space monitoring in different branches of national economy define the need for a system approach. Establishing regional or industrial online space monitoring situation centers is one more important line of branch activity.

The number of conference attendees is growing from year to year. The rapid development of the remote sensing industry leads to the ever-growing desire of experts to share experience in application of space technologies in developed and implemented projects in such important fields as municipal and regional management; oil and gas complex, power engineering, agriculture and forestry; ecology and environment protection; emergency management etc. While the first conference “Remote Sensing - the Synergy of High Technologies” held in 2007 gathered about 250 people, the latest forum held in April 2009 numbered over 300 people from 12 countries.

The forthcoming conference in 2010 welcomes leading Russian and foreign operators and developers of ERS space systems: Research Centre for Earth Operative Monitoring, Samara Space Center, Khrunichev State Research and Production State Center, FGUP Priroda State Center, Russian Institute of Space Device Engineering, Lavochkin Association, All-Russian Research Institute of Electromechanics with Plant (VNIIEM), FSUE of Precision Instruments (all above are Russian), DigitalGlobe (USA), GeoEye (USA), Infoterra and RapidEye (Germany), Spot Image (France), MDA (Canada), as well as software suppliers for ERS data processing - ITT VIS (ENVI), Bentley Systems (MicroStation), INPHO, Schlumberger Water Services and many others.

Main topics of the forthcoming conference “Remote Sensing – the Synergy of High Technologies” in 2010:

  • Integrated approach to application of up-to-date ERS technologies for information analysis support of situation centers.
  • Ground-based online space data receipt and processing stations, and services for online access to archived catalogues.
  • State-of-the-art and development trends of the Russian and foreign ERS programs and cutting-edge technologies for integrated data processing.
  • Software systems and solutions for ERS data processing, GIS and geoportal development from the leading developers.
  • End-to-end cycles for joint application of space monitoring and GLONASS – GPS-technologies.
  • Geodata banks - datacenters for GIS and ERS branch. Main problems and development prospects.

Within IV International conference “Remote Sensing - the Synergy of High Technologies” there will be held workshops, presentations from Sovzond and its partners, master-classes, round tables, exhibition and entertainment program. For the first time there will be a competition for the best GIS and ERS projects at the Conference

News on preparation to the conference and information on nominees will be published at the special site . Please submit your application for participation in the Registration section. The registration deadline is January 31, 2010.
